Jayce the terms “freelancer, independent contractor, contract employee, and consultant” are used interchangeably, but there is a difference.

In reply to Paula Hendrickson. Paula some of my favorite "praises" from readers of the years of my books, blogs, etc., is that I make things very clear and easy to understand. And I think it has a lot to do with explaining the "hows and whys" as you say. So thank you very much. Makes the detail I go into worth it. :)

I as of late got my duplicate of Yuwanda’s book and began understanding it. Such a much needed refresher to pick up the viewpoint from such an accomplished consultant! I’ve generally said you should be somewhat of a bulldog to survive outsourcing and Yuwanda is a Top Dog. ?

Yuwanda’s #8 Tip – They are Good Communicators – in her Eight Habits of Successful Freelancers impacted me. You’d think particularly for independent essayists, this would be a no-brainier. In any case, I’ve discovered one basic weakness (of anybody – consultant or customer) is poor correspondence. A basic affirmation or sharing of status improves things greatly.

Can’t wait to read the rest of her book. Well done, Yuwanda. And disclaimer, Yuwanda graciously included a section I wrote in her book. But, that didn’t influence my take on her book. No, really.

I recently received my copy of Yuwanda’s book and started reading it. Such a breath of fresh air to gain the perspective from such an experienced freelancer! I’ve always said you need to be a bit of a bulldog to survive freelancing and Yuwanda is a Top Dog. 😉

Yuwanda’s #8 Tip – They are Good Communicators – in her Eight Habits of Successful Freelancers resonated with me. You’d think especially for freelance writers, this would be a no-brainer. However, I’ve found one common shortcoming (of anyone – freelancer or client) is poor communication. A simple acknowledgement or sharing of status makes a world of difference.
